At the helm of DATASKILL is Nigel Hook, who founded the firm in 1981. For over a quarter of a century, Nigel has been at the helm of the firm’s operations, including business development and technology delivery. A technologist with a keen understanding of business, Nigel previously served as the firm’s Chief Technical Officer. In that capacity, he pioneered early relational database technologies in the 80’s, Internet related technologies in the 90’s and more recently service oriented architectures (SOA).
Nigel’s commitment to the community brings him to sit on many non-profit and business-related boards. For the past five years, Nigel has held a regular chair on IBM’s Mid-Market Advisory Board. He has been a Distinguished Visitor on the USS Abraham Lincoln, and participated on a NASCAR USO Tour to the Middle East, and has spent time with U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.
The same passion for speed that has driven DATASKILL’s success has earned Nigel motor racing awards on the water. He has won multiple National and World Championship titles, and a World Speed record – the ocean speed record from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Driving for sponsors such as CITGO, Conseco and Lucas Oil, Captain Hook commands from the cockpit.
Prior to founding DATASKILL, Nigel was a consultant in the financial services practice at Cap Gemini in New York. He graduated from Staffordshire University in England with a B.S. in Computer Science, and holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. He was born in the heart of the English midlands, and now is a proud citizen of the United States.
