Why Watson?

IBM’s Watson is an artificially intelligent computer system capable of answering questions posed in natural language. Watson is best known for winning Jeopardy! against two human champions and is currently used in applications such as healthcare. Calling it the three dimensional view of the patient with an extra-ordinary dimension, the same ground breaking cognitive technology is being used to help businesses better understand their customers – how to retain the right customers and how to reach new relevant customers.

Since IBM Watson won Jeopardy! In February 2011, on DataSkill’s 30th year anniversary, DataSkill — an IBM Premium Partner for over 17 years — has been deploying this new technology to bring innovative solution to the marketplace. Confirmation was seen at the beginning of 2014 when IBM launched The Watson Group as its fourth new division and a billion dollar start-up.

With healthcare as the main, although not only focus, DataSkill is opening an office in Kuala Lumpur to lead the design of a Watson-inspired cloud-based transformation patient-centric population health and wellness program.

“Over the last 40 years we have worked hard to learn how to best program computers to do what we want. The equation has flipped. We are now making the computer work hard to learn what we want them to do. There is too much data out there now and it’s growing at an insatiable rate; the only way to stay ahead is to use the data to train the computers instead of programming. This is the new Cognitive Era.

The data will always be out there; the software, programs, apps will always change. It’s always been about the data and having the skill to transform the data into value”.
